Mountains and clouds

Sunnylady 05 Mar 2021

I have not painted mountains for quite a long time. These ones were a challenge. My medium was sinking in the canvas board and no blending was possible. It made me mad couple of times. But I managed not to let it upset me and I finished this painting.

Color and value was a challenge. Class by D. Roza.

This is my biggest oil painting yet. 50 by 80cm. (20x32inch)

it's stunning!!!!

Beautiful clouds, mountains and mist and specially the light on the top of the mountains is incredible.

All those little shadows in the mountains are really great. Love the way light is playing on the tops of the mountains. Great painting 👍

@Toadi, @joha,@umagaan thank you folks! Appreciate your kind words. I worked hard for 5 hours. Clouds could not get fluffy as I wanted, but also many other things did not go well. I repainted sky 2 times. Not bad, at least not 15 times :). Little variety in shadows, I tried to create illusion of details like cliffs, canyons but very far away. I think they look quite well.

Thank you for your wonderful support!

Omg!!!

Lovely sky!!!

Beautiful Sunnylady! I like the colors and depth in the clouds and your mountains look lovely. Sorry to hear about your troubles. You certainly didn’t need that on such a large painting, but you won the battle!

Thank you my dear friends, thank you for your support.
I fixed my medium after I signed the painting, it turned out I made it very lean and it was a source of my problems. Live and learn!

Beautiful, you really are a talented lady 😀

Thank you very much Son of Nivek. You are very kind boy and your drawings are super! Keep going, learn, draw/paint and when you grow a bit and still like drawing , go to search career in design.

Fantastic .. love all of it

So many beautiful clouds, clouds catch attention first then the light on the mountains.

@DavidF - thanks a lot!

@JoJoSunshine - totally agree with you. It dries now and standing on the side, in terms of contrast they catch attention first. Mountains somehow are secondary. This certainly was not intentional, but not bad :)
My husband said that mountain on the right is naked, and i think i need to glaze it with Zink white/Phtalo blue/Madder Lake mix to push it back a bit. It is a bit dark against the sky.

It's good the mountains are not all the same color. This adds depth and distance.
