Original Creation

Sketch after Aivazovsky "Yalta", 1899.

Sunnylady 24 Apr 2020

This is only one Aivazovski painting that is available in our museum. I started it in front of the painting, but was finishing it couple of months later at home. Mostly adding dark values. However, as my toughest critic said it is still not enough, but it improved from where it originally was.
It certainly more to learn about value, but I am glad I start seeing it better now.
Pencils H, 2B, 4B.
I wish I had 6B.

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

That powerful sea, the boat in a storm …. EXCELLENT job done. Never knew you drew well as well! :)
That foam on the mid wave ….. WAW!!

Last year I took a drawing classes and learnt things there. I look back at my works and see that they are lacking dark value. Like this one.
May be I will post something from that time.

Thank you very much for your encouraging feedback Voy!

It must've been difficult to draw.
I think the ship swayed by the waves is very well drawn.

Jin only the ship has enough darkness, the rest was a challenge as I dont know how to show that most from the water that covers all the scene and I don't have that special sticky eraser that is just amazing to create fog.

Check out the original and you will see it is way far in the tones. However I must admit that photo is way overexposed than the original painting.
