Sunflowers in blue vase

Sunnylady 09 Apr 2020

Sunflowers. Oil on 16 by 20 inch canvas. My second flowers ever. I had a lot of blue residual paint and decided to have this painting. There were some twists on the way and this is fixed painting. I had to redo one flower as it was ugly. Now it is drying. I guess it is not perfect, but I like how bright it is.

You used complementry bluish color,I would say that was a perfect choice. highlights and shodows are very good. Especially the shadow colors are diffrent depend on background color. Superb!

Thank you Jin. When I posted it and look at it on the screen the flowers seem to be like sea star fishes. You know some of them have more than 10 tentacles and if I remember correctly they are called sea lilies. Or even like anemones where little clown fishes live. :)

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

Van Gogh would be jealous about this one Sunnylady. GREAT painting, so daring and so well thought over and executed!

Love it! Nicely done.

Voy, thanks a lot. I think Van Gogh would be very happy if he lived nowadays with brightness and resistance of paints. Also just imagine if to add acrylics to this crazy mix. :)

Froggie, thank you!
