Original Creation

Winter scene #9

Sunnylady 15 Sep 2022

Attempt was done to do two paintings in parallel #8 and #9, but it was not working due to hick up with color and quick drying time if acrylics.
Anyway sky was mostly parallel, mistakes happened in parallel too, but fixing was slightly consequential.

How good to post and start seeing mistakes straight away. In both paintings I found one thing that bothers me a lot. Need to touch up it tomorrow. Hopefully I will be happier tomorrow.

Very pretty!

Oh wow! So pretty! Love the mist and shadows.

At first glance, the first thing I noticed was how much I enjoyed the lighting. I really enjoy the water warmly reflecting the sky, and the shadows around all the elements in the mid/foreground. I find that if I stare at a piece I'm working on for too long, certain things start to bother me deeply. Almost like saying a word over and over until it sounds like nonsense, staring at ones work for too long makes thing look strange. My point is I did not notice any hiccups, and I enjoy it very much, but I can relate to how you feel.

Very nice! I have been comparing your #4,8 and 9. This one is hugely my favorite . I like the deeper lines of the shore, the highlights and shadows, the detailing of the trees. I do see the parallel in the sky and I wish it were a softer transition. Aside from that I think you nailed it this time!

Thank you all for your time to look at this painting and send me feedback!
@Jeffth - totally agree, i once had such experience where I was working B&W and at some point everything lost any sense that i saw just shapes and i could not see the subject. Maybe it is not bad for artist but that was an interesting brain game. I like that when i post here it gives me different angle at it. Of course photo never represents how painting looks in real life, but it gives a big picture after looking at individual parts especially when can look at it from computer screen and not the phone. I just starting to comprehend that relations in color and value are important, and i should not loose focus from these things. Live and learn :)
@flippergirl - thank you! I will verify value transition in the sky! I will bring the front tree down as it does not fall linear perspective to plant it even closer to the viewer and repaint that piece of land and another thing that i also need to check value of the tree trunks, they seem all to be the same, but should not be. Background trees also fall out of linear perspective :( so i will see today with fresh eyes if my paint points are really pain points or it is not all bad.
