Sunny Morning

Sunny Morning by Viktor Yushkevich. I so love his paintings and just had to copy one of them. He always seems to paint in acrylics whereas I follow Bob and I only paint with oils so I had to adapt it to Bob's wet on wet technique and it was so much fun. I used a black canvas and half way through I wished I'd left a white area in the middle, it was so difficult to get good coverage of the white and yellow paint over the black gesso. I'll be annoyed with myself if it darkens down too much. But I still love the painting and I now feel inspired, so much that I want to do it again. Hope this inspires others to set aside any fears about adapting other mediums to oil wet on wet. I can hear Bob now, "I know you can do it".

Thank you Patoex.

Thank you Tom. I just went for it with the fan brush followed by the blender.

Amazing and detailed painting! The foreground is awesome with all the lovely plants and flowers!

So eye catching and beautiful! I like the depth and all the details.

I feel the sun shining through on this one! Great work!

Thank you all for your kind comments, I'm glad you like it. It's the first sun I have attempted, I'll try doing a moon next time.

Splendor on the lake.Love it!

Thank you Pietro, I really enjoyed it.

I love the sun rays and the light on the water. Beautiful!

Thank you Brooke, the sky was a real joy to do. How it didn't turn to mud I don't know to be honest, although I did keep it quite dry. More damp on damp rather than wet on wet if you see what I mean. And for the white I used liquid white. The water which should have been easy was awkward due to the black canvas underneath. Learning lessons all the time!

Absolutely Beautiful!!

Dellajoy, thank you so much. It was a challenge but worth the effort.
