This is my first time trying Bob's techniques (actually my first time using oil paints - I was always scared because it doesn't dry!) , and I followed the advice of doing his Grandeur of Summer that came with the Bob Ross Master paint set. It took six hours - I stopped to wolf down some rice and Ribena but that was my only break. I can't say I ever relaxed enough to feel whole lot of 'joy' during the process (my emotions flip flopped between bouts of frustration and brief moments of relief), but I'm sure that will come with time and experience. I struggled to get the right textures for the close evergreens and bushes, but then he said to add paint thinner (smart). I was knackered by the end but chuffed to bits with the result.
I would not have ever guessed this was a first try. Really, great job! Welcome to our community!

The first painting is the hardest. Yours looks fantastic, I especially like the dark trees around the lake.
