Original Creation

Before the Storm - Nil Rocha

Tom0779 05 Sep 2023

This is still one of my all time favorites among all media I have used.
I like that dark cloudy sky which is to come over the poor lonely little house. Thank you Nil for this great tutorial. I remember that I have donated this painting to my parents as they loved it.
It is watercolors and ink on paper, A4 sized.

Thank you Dirk, I am painting normally 2 pictures per week. This one is already from 2021.

Beautiful! I wonder if the door is unlocked. That storm looks pretty bad!

Thanks Brian, I guess the house is blown away after the storm, LOL.

Stunning Tom. So very different from oils.

Gorgeous Tom.

Thank you very much Tony!

Thanks Tomi, new watercolors should come soon, I already started to practice with new sketches...

That sky (in watercolor!) is fantastic. I love this one a bunch!

Many thanks Pam, those wet in wet skies are really nice with watercolors.

Gorgeous Tom! That sky is amazing! Watercolor is such a beautiful medium!! Have you considered to paint this one with oils?

Thank you so much Nancy. No I didn't think about painting it in oils. But you could do it :) I am sure you would produce an awesome piece.

Really well done. Watercolor in my opinion is difficult to paint but you have a natural talent for it and your watercolor paintings always jump out to me. Really nice work :)

Many thanks Daniel, actually watercolors was the first medium I painted with. It is not so much forgiving than oils. But normally one you got the sky right not much can happen any more.
