Good things come in threes, so I decided to share a third painting showing a boat on the row. It will be the last boat painting I promise, LOL. Can you pick a favorite out of the three?
This is from the book 'the magic of Oil Painting V' by Bill Alexander. It is painted on Liquid Black which I think is a medium used too rare. You can make very nice pictures using this medium.
I personally like this scene, even I know it won't be that popular as mountain+evergreen paintings. Believe it or not I immediately had a request for this one once I published it a few months ago. Myself I always want to paint something different. This doesn't mean I won't get back to something I painted before but I always want to try something new. Else I think it would start to bore me.
I think this was the first time I tried to put in a small person in an oil painting. I did it frequently in the watercolors but never in oils before this one.
This is oils on canvas panel 16 x 20 in (40 x 50 cm)

Thank you so much Nancy. This one is good to use the liquid black :) Yes it is something different. But I thought this is really a superb idea from Bill.
To be honest I can#t remember (this is already from October 22) how I painted this small person. I think using a small nylon filbert. I use this often for small details.
And I was wrong above, I also painted a person in Bobs episode Campfire, this is older than that one :)

yeah that person really makes this special, for me. Something about them is so life like even with very few features. Is that a life vest they are wearing? I don't know why but I want to just keep staring at the person in the boat haha. Well done, cheers.

This is very pretty! I do like the sailboat details (and the little person). I will have to try something with his liquid black sometime. I have some but I never use it lol.
