Several years ago I experimented with some, I call them semi abstract, paintings in watercolor. This was one of them.
I was really enjoying this kind of paintings. I finally didn't went further in that direction as I started the oils at that time as well. The problem I see with these kind of paintings is, that a lot f them really need to go to the waste. And for this I didn't want to waste a lot of expensive watercolor paper :)
This is a small painting, 15 x 20 cm. Only watercolors used here.
Really nice one!
Nice that orange and green between all the grey!
I really like the abstracted landscape in the watercolor. I do want to say you should not waste your used watercolor paper. There are many options. Watercolor paper has 2 sides. If it bubles up you can usually flatten it with book. You can cut them up and mosaic something new. Or the nuclear option is that you recycle them by painting gesso over and then use either acrylics or even oil. These are just a few ideas. But you don't have have to trash quality paper.
I used to make handmade paper, it has similar texture to watercolour paper. It's easy to make from clean white waste paper. Curious to see how that would work!
Tom0779 beautiful, i love the colors are have used they remind me of a grave yard scene at dawn. Watercolor is a different style medium and yo did great with this.
Nice work Tom
Tom, I especially like how you achieved layering with bright colors in the foreground and progressively lighter black/grey tones in the background of your semi-abstract. The shapes at midground right suggested to me animal profiles, maybe cows?
I like that there is just enough detail (fence, birds, tree tops) to suggest the landscape. And I like the use of the complimentary colors.
