Waterfalls

TonyM 14 Sep 2023

Two things I continue to struggle with are crowded foliage and waterfalls.

I have a spot on a wall in my foyer that is perfect for a 10 X 20 canvas. This presented a perfect opportunity to practice a cascading stream waterfall surrounded by crowded foliage. I contemplated not even posting this one, but I have posted every painting I have created, good or bad, and I did not want to break that habit. There is more for me to learn by reviewing my bad paintings as opposed to the good ones.

Parts of this painting came out OK to my eye and parts did not. I'll keep working at it. I give myself a C- grade on this one. To my eye, the waterfall is too big in terms of water volume and the foliage is too crowded. Bottom line, I like the composition of this painting, the execution ... not so much.

As usual photo does not do the painting justice. 10" x 20" canvas. As always, your comments (especially suggestions) are desired and welcome.

Very colorful and the foliage looks good to my eyes Tony!

I have the same struggles. Great job with the colors not making mud.

VEry nice Tony!

It's a beautiful compo Tony!! I don't see any issues with this painting. Foliage is normally crowded in nature. You did a super job with it! The waterfall is great! It starts smaller at the top and its cascading downhill is perfect! Your colors are really nice! Give it a few days and look at it again. You'll probably have a different opinion! Great work my friend! 🙌🏼
