I really got into these Africa themed paintings. This one is for my sister's office. I'll add a monkey on the big tree, a giraffe underneath it and an ostrich running towards the sun once the painting is dry.
I liked blending the sky, even though it was a bit difficult to find the right balance between the yellows and the orange/reds. Painting the trees was my favorite part. I find it so liberating to go with the flow and just play with shapes. I added the birds because, well, there was plenty of room in the sky and because I think they add a feeling of movement to the painting. I think they are circling the area looking for something to eat.
I really had fun painting this one. 40 x 80 cm.

I love the size you painted this one on, this will really hold people's attention.
The skies .... you mastered it. I won't talk about your perfect trees since I know you have those under control!
WAW Umagaan, simply WAW! I bet you have the intention for quite a long series of these, like I've done.

Umagan, sky is terrific! Absolutely love this dark orange/looking like burnt sienna color. Interesting size- it takes my mind into SuperMario game from old times. Love positioning of the trees and ground unevenness. It talks adventure!

Voy thank you, it's always nice to hear your nice words 🤗

Sunnylady thank you. The orange in the sky is a mix of cadmium red and cadmium yellow. They make such nice warm color, I really like it. In the edges I added a bit of vandyke brown. As for the canvas size - I wanted a low canvas because I think it's more suitable for these landscapes, ideally I wanted a 40x70 canvas so that it wouldn't be so symmetrical, but at the artstore they only had 40x60 or 40x80. I put quite some tought in the positioning of the trees, I wanted them to kind of point towards the sun.

As for the ground - it's not visible in the photo but I shaped the black into some hills and valleys using cad yellow and orange so that it has some subtle variety. I really like working with liquid black. Lessons from painting ocean sunrise 😊

I like your style, its amazing.

I added an additional photo of the finished painting with animals.

Branches too high for the giraffe so wonders if the monkey would help him!
That ostrich! What a superb idea!!

Well done Umagaan!

Thanks Voy 😁 I love the energy between the giraffe and the monkey ☺ And that ostrich is in the distance, running towards the sun.
I had quite a few troubles finding the right priportions between the trees and different animals, but in the end I really like the result.

Super nice you added animals: it has so much life in it now. I have come up with my story. Ostrich now thinks that he can fly and runs towards those birds, while naughty monkey teases giraffe! Great execution of the silhouettes!

Love your story Sunnylady 😁 I think it's great that paintings challenge our imagination. And Bob always says we should make up stories while we paint 🤔
