A few days ago I was driving home from work and the sun was setting and there were some trees right in front of a beautiful colorful sky. It really caught my attention so today I tried to recreate the image. I loved painting the sky and blending all those colors. Positioning of the trees was the most challenging part. I wasn't sure if I should add more but then I thought sometimes less is more so I just left it at that point. All in all I quite like this one.

flippergirlpaints I used oils for everything. I sometimes use gesso for underpainting, but in this case I wasn't sure what I'll do with the sky and how I'll place the trees so I just used oils.

Beautiful sky and terrific tiny branch work! I love tree silhouettes against a sunrise/sunset. Did you use oils or acrylics for the trees? I used the black gesso on one I did and think it is way easier that way.
