Absolutely magical! Any tips on how to find the right amount of color for clouds like these?

Sure.. start light.. you can always add more color but taking it away is harder. The trick I read and use was transparent colors use thinner to light it up.. for opaque colors use liquid white. Honestly, you have most of the image spot on. I would use a smaller brush when blending, light touch. As Bob said.. two hairs and some air.. its good advice for blending. Again, you can blend more.. if you blend too much too hard.. its harder to recover

The sky is opalescent in the original. That is quite a task to achieve and you did it! I think original is photoshopped opal to create magic sky. Totally interesting idea!

Fabulous re-creation! Your aunt should be proud to put that on her wall.
