Acrylics

Wow, that amazing painting! It is so different in the mood, so much more organized, like a park rather than wild forest! They are certainly different from oils. Experiment and challenge yourself with both media. Looking forward to see more!

Hi ya sunny lady , thank you for your comment. I enjoyed my first attempt with acrylics, can I ask can you mix oils and acrylics if the acrylic has dried ?
I am looking forward to attempting a stormy sky !!:

I'd say this is your best masterpiece. Great depth in it and grass area is nicely done.

David, let me share what I learnt from professionals.
1. It is not recommended to apply oil above acrylic layer due to very slippery surface does not provide good adhesion to oil.
2. You may ask what about acrylic gesso, this rule is not applicable to acrylic gesso as composition of gesso is different from paint.
3. Acrylic on the oil is also not recommended.

I will tell what I did for Venus and Mercury paintings. I did even worse used house paint as I ran out of gesso. I know those paintings will not survive long.

If you plan to enhance acrylic painting with oil layer on top it will work but painting will not survive for a long time. So if you really love your acrylic painting do not mess with oil above it. Do the same painting with oil paint instead.

@sunnylady @jin7 Thank you for your comment I am really enjoying painting a new pastime for me but learning @sunnylady thank you so much for your detailed response that is such a shame as the two types of paints have different benefits, being an engineer it would be good to develop a coating you could place over the acrylics to help the oil to stick .. mmmm maybe my next project :) but thank you for taking the time to explain very helpful. looking forward to attempting a stormy scene today been thinking about how to do it ... happy painting and thank you both again.

Glad it was helpful David! I believe the basis here that polymer of the linseed oil behaves differently from the acrylic polymer. That's why when canvas contracting/stretching during the time/humidity/etc. these two different types of paints cannot be friends. All the best with your research!

This is really well done! I don't check the site in 2 weeks and all of a sudden there is an absolute flurry of incredible paintings posted. Great work! Love the colors here.

Wonderful painting. I really like the leaves on the close trees. I have problems creating realistic and airy leaves like those with acrylics.

@lightsnow @moai thank you for your comments... moan I should not be giving anybody advice on painting but I used a sponge to do the trees and just dabbed gently .. Hope that helps .. happy painting
