My first TARDIS

doggymommee8301 15 Aug 2020

This is my first attempt at painting the TARDIS. I hope to eventually “hide” them in Bob Ross inspired landscape paintings but I wanted to try just the TARDIS first. I’m pretty happy with how the TARDIS itself turned out. My attempt at a solar system in the background? Not so much. Shoutout to @Sunnylady for suggesting I try drawing cabins on paper to work on angle and perspective. I drew about a dozen TARDISES before I felt ready to try to paint one.

I’ve been wanting to paint the tardis - or rather the exploding tardis. I’m a huge Dr Who fan and this looks amazing!

I love this and I love your idea of hiding a tardis in your paintings! It’s such a great idea, I’m sad I didn’t think of it myself.

@Lilikins: thank you. I’m super happy with how it turned out. I bet your exploding TARDIS will turn out amazing. Be sure to post it when you do paint it!

Great perspective on the tardis! The background brings the eye back to it really well and the center detail is captivating. Nice work!

@Evarawks, thank you for your encouraging words. I’m pretty happy with this. Plan to put it in my office at work.

This is absolutely great job on the perspective! You nailed it! This is incredibly difficult angle!

I need to learn a bit more about Tardis. :) I am not familiar with the tv show unfortunately. That makes it even more interesting to look at the painting!

Impressive how great you managed all the fine lines inside structure and shadows to add volume!

@Sunnylady, thanks so much! As I mentioned, it was your encouragement to try drawing structures on paper to practice before painting it that really helped me a lot on this one. I think my next "cabin in the woods" will actually look like a cabin instead of an ogre hut!

I am very happy that my advice helped you to improve in the way you wanted.

love this one

Thank you Jayne. This one is up in my office at work. I get comments from folks walking by all the time asking where I got it from. They are always surprised when I tell them I painted it!
