Tropical Sunset

doggymommee8301 04 Aug 2020

This is the second of this similar background I have painted. Once the paint dries I am going to (attempt) to add some Tiki statues in the foreground. This will be for a friend of mine whose living room is in Tiki theme. The first version I did of this was for my uncle, because when he saw the painting I did for my dad, he asked for one for himself, with elephants. I didn't quite know how to tell him I was just starting out and following along with Bob Ross, so I was only comfortable with simple landscapes. I found something similar to this on Pinterest though, and it looked pretty simple (it is) so I decided to give it a go. Good practice for mixing sunset colors, and creating depth with the hills. My friend who this painting is going to like teal... so that's going to be a fun one to try to mix when I add the Tiki guy with my collection of Bob Ross paints. This was also my first attempt at a palm tree, though I wasn't really sure that's what I was going for when I started out. Happy Little Accident!

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

This reminds me so much of MHK's work. He also lives in California!

Sadly, I am a couple hours away from the coast. My scenery is mostly agriculture (almond orchards, vineyards, sweet potato fields). And it is very flat.
