Eagle Condor Prophecy

A commissioned piece that will be used to create advertisement, merchandise (t-shirts mostly), etc for the Eagle Condor festival hosted by Kevin Standing Elk and Shamanic Community of Louisville, Cincinnati & Atlanta.

I had the opportunity to meet one of the Andean paqos (priest), Eduardo Chura Apaza (I put a pic in the thumbnail) and learned about the meaning of this festival. The Eagle and Condor prophecy, found in various indigenous cultures, predicts a time of imbalance and the potential for humanity to find balance by combining the paths of the Eagle (representing the mind and masculine and most times refers to north america) and the Condor (representing the heart and feminine and most times refers to south america).

After learning the meaning of my project, I was given 100% artist license to create whatever I wanted. Both north and south Americans will be attending this event. I pitched the design idea of the resulting painting to have the image printed eagle side up using English writing for the wording ("eagle Condor festival/dates/times/locations") and printing the shirts with condor side up and the wording in Spanish. Approved!

I am sure I will get a t-shirt this fall when they are printed ☺
