Original Creation

Hideaway (inspired by Michael James Smith's Serenity)

flippergirlpaints 19 Jul 2026

12 x 12 in acrylics (I am getting so used to using them on my pet portraits, I wanted to try a landscape). I found this painting by Michael James Smith a little while back and was just waiting for the right time to paint it since I intended to keep it (hanging now). I did spend about 3 hours on it in total. I will also attach the 3 versions I found of his painting. Each one is definitely different and unique! I am not one of his members so I do not have access to tutorials and I just painted it from the reference photo.

This is so pretty. The foliage is beautifully done, I would hang this on my wall. Painting from photos is my favourite way to paint. And the results show you enjoyed it. Well done.

Thank you Helen

Very good work, as always. I especially love that light green hue in the reflection!

Very nice, hard to do in acrylics I think. but you succeeded!

Very beautiful!

Wow, very nice, love the boats, leaves and rocks, and you have nice depth.
