Original Creation

Snow in March

This painting was amazingly fun and has a story 🤔. Like everyone else here (I am sure) I have "reject" paintings that I do not really like and I paint over them. Back in February I painted JOP episode Warm Summer day (SEE PICTURE INSERT). I did not like the result and it was put away in the "closet of doom" LOL 🤣. I came upon the forgotten canvas the other day (10 months later!) and having been looking at Leonid Afremov paintings lately, I was suddenly inspired at 6:00 in the evening to re make this painting into something else using only a palette knife in a more impressionistic style. 45 minutes (😲) later it was finished and it is one of my favorite paintings I have ever done. The white is brighter somewhat in person, but the photo was not showing the background detail enough, so I adjusted the picture here a little. After it dries in about 2 months (LOL so impasto thick!) it will definitely be framed.

Simply awesome! Love the impressionistic style...much better than JOP scene!

Thanks Sandy!

Like this a lot kind of "Monet-ish" in my eye

Thank you Kevin! I agree.

I love it. I agree it is Monet-esque. The minimalism is wonderful. How satisfying to improve on the original so much and what a great lesson.

Thank you barbara! I could not have said it better myself.

I love this style of painting. It is so fun and it appears that you even repurposed a couple of the trees, not just the canvas?

What a magnificent painting Pam!

Thanks Brian and Nancy! And, yes Brian you are correct. I used painter's tape to cover the main portion of their trunks, and then peeled it off after doing the background work.
