THE I AM

1/22/23 - Thank you to everyone for your votes! Congrats as well to Marc and Brian L!

A gift for Kevin
After being diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure in 2020*, my oldest son embarked on a spiritual journey of discovery and appreciation for the unconditional love of self. This painting is a celebration of realizing and accepting our uniqueness, having gratitude, and learning to love yourself as you are.
*(doing well and on the national kidney transplant waiting list. Also still looking for a living donor 🙏)

Thank you Jesse, that is totally the message 🤗.

I love this painting and it surprised me as I am not normally drawn to paintings that appear to be about space. Having read your comment and even before I read it, I can see that this painting is about so much more than that. It exudes light and love for life. I wish the best for you and your family.

Thank you for your kind words Barbara. As an artist sometimes one wonders if the energy behind the painting is evident, and I am glad it is.

The universe is a vast and magical place, you have captured its essence perfectly on canvas, the representation of your son drawing from it's energy is breathtaking, a beautiful painting. I wish Kevin all the very best and keep my fingers crossed that a donor can be found very soon 🙏

Thank you Kevin for your wishes for my Kevin! The idea for this painting came to me a while back but I waited for a day that felt "right" to do it. I am so pleased that my vision translated to canvas just as I imagined.

So beautiful and inspiring! Prayers for you and your son in his journey! Just so magical..

Pam, this is incredible!!!! What a masterpiece! My heart just swelled up reading your message. Sending lots of love and prayers to your son. Tell him to manifest his kidney. A donor will come his way.

Thanks so much Terry for your lovely words! Happiness in life is all about perspective. 😌

Not to take anything away from the sentiment behind this masterpiece, I would be very interested to learn how you created it. You should do a how-to article and teach us how you did it.

Brian, I welcome your question. The method is basically the same that Bob uses in paintings like Aurora and northern lights, and evening sunset among many others. Black canvas, THIN coat liquid clear. Then I used ONLY transparent colors (alizarin crimson, sap green, indian yellow, phtalo blue) and titanium white. I had an idea of the image I wanted so I put some of each of those transparent colors on the canvas over the clear. I used a soft fan brush, loaded with white and used the method Bob does for clouds sometimes to make my basic design and blended with my BLENDER brush. Then I went back with more color and/or darker colors to add additional shapes in areas, like building a space landscape I guess, lol. Blending softly between "layers". For the stars I just used a smaller brush and white and made a circle like Bob does for his sun sometimes and a liner brush for the rays and blended gently. A toothbrush in thinned down white used to spray those tiny star specs. I did let it completely dry before I went back and painted the figure. It was extremely fun and artistically satisfying to paint as well as meaningful. You can literally not do it wrong since it is just your imagination. Thank you!

You make it sound easy but I daresay it would be a challenge. Thanks for the info!

Voted...i just love this
