TOAD a wolfdog portrait

This is a portrait of my son's wolfdog Toad. I told him I would try painting this as my first pet portrait painting and I am stoked about how it turned out! (I have a feeling I will be painting several more wolfdogs we have in our family :) The border is done with black gesso and the rest is oils. Aside from the background color I painted the entire portrait with my #2 Bob Ross script liner brush. It took me a total of about 6 hours over 2 days to complete it once the border/background was finished. I am attaching the inspiration photo as well as several stages of the painting as it progressed.
