Original Creation

Gray Mountain - Paul Ranson

joha59 23 May 2023

This time I did not follow the Bob Ross original (I did it already twice), but the interpretation of Paul Ranson in his tutorial in two parts. I used the same 'canvas' as he did, just to try, thick, blanc wallpaper(!) with two layers of acrylic paint (I used white gesso), using a roller, with tape layed over a real canvas, cheap and effective, easy to store, when it is dry, or to throw away when failed, and a thin coat of liquid white and, because I did it in two sessions, a thin layer of liquid clear to make it wet again, size 50 x 40 cm (20 x 16 inch). It was a real challenge, because I normally paint on much smaller, flat laying canvas in a single session and use a different, more easy pallet knife, for the mountains.

Great painting. I like the wallpaper idea. I have about a gazillion failed attempts to get rid of.
