This one is from last saturday, I wanted an other painting on the shed in the backyard and therefore a small format. I picked the techniques from Kathwren Jenkins out of the serie The Beauty of Oil Painting, season 02 episode 15 called "Country Rooster", she did also some lovely borders, but because of the small format I skipped these. No liquid white was used, only linseed oil as medium, the background contains different colors in oils, all mixed with a bit of white, the red of the rooster was first done in acrylics and later the shadows and highlights with oil paint. The rest of the rooster was also done in oil paint except the black parts of the eye and the beak were first sketched carefully with black and a bit white gesso. On canvasboard of 13 x 18 cm. Now waiting till it's dry over two weeks and I can put it in the frame and hang it in the garden.
Another beauty Jos. Have you seen Gary's egret? The full size version is gorgeous.
Thank you Carolyn and Helen (do I understand well that you are going to try that one from Gary?)!
Not right now. I've got my eye on Sally, can you believe that? I can hardly believe it myself. 😮
