This one was tough. Making barns and buildings realistic and believable in a tough ask!!!
This is a wonderful job.
One thing, look at the perspective on the silo. When you look up at something vice look down, the circle curve on the top there may be reversed or just overstated. But its a wonderful job, really.
Great farmhouse .love the perspective.cheers.P
You nailed this one!
You're buildings look great. I think your silo is a little bit flat but it wouldn't take much to fix it. If you paint over that white vertical line down the left hand side with a dark colour and blend it by pulling some soft short strokes inwards in the direction of the centre, doesn't need much, it will look more cylindrical. (a bit like painting the trunk of a birch tree, but use a soft brush so the paint doesn't break as the silo is smooth metal I believe). Hope that helps. I like the way you've done your withered fencing, it really suits the composition.
Silo is poured concrete. And the white line down the left is 10 inch pipe where the silage would have cycled out to feed the cattle. It’s there in real life.
Oh, my mistake, thank you for explaining that. In that case it really does look like poured concrete, you did a great job. I would have found that challenging.
It all makes a little more sense. Hopefully now. I found this painting as a whole to be difficult, Just so hard to make it look realistic. This is an actual place. I had taken a picture of to use for reference.
I like your style. Painting from photos is a challenge just on its own, unravelling the layers to get the job done. I might not always get the result I want, it can be frustrating at best, but it can also be very satisfying and rewarding. It's my favourite way to paint, I rarely follow tutorials, I just look at the picture and go for it. You did good.
Very cool scene. Great painting!
