This is my first oil painting- I would love any feedback on how I can make my work better. I really admire the work that everyone has shared! Thank you.

You know what? For your very first oil painting that is pretty darn impressive. I almost quit after my first one last year. Glad I didnโ€™t. There are some things Bob Ross has said that sticks with me. He says things like as you move forward in the painting go from lighter colors to darker. Play light against dark. Dark against light continually. So that different aspects stand out. Creates depth. Maybe for water do reflections first then add other land areas. You might highlight some of the evergreens but again itโ€™s just practice practice practice. Repetition. Still impressed that that is your first painting. I tend to watch his episodes over and over and then paint. Practice is important but most important is having fun! Excellent work!

I agree. Great first paining! I am not a critic, so I will only point out what I like. Your river/stream seems fast moving and gives it lots of life! Your trees have good shape (evergreens) and your sky is a pretty blue and gives it a nice Summer feel.

This really is a great first effort. Sky, water and evergreens are really good. With the mountain you might try to pay a lot of attention to first mixing the right colors for shadow and light areas, and then think about angles while applying them. It would give your mountain a bit moore three-dimensional look.
Good job and keep on painting ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

Thank you!
