Original Creation

Breaking through Borders

lightsnow 02 May 2021

Painting # 90. It had been a good 3 weeks since I last painted so I pushed myself to do so today. I wanted to paint something simple and laid back and came up with this. I used masking tape to create the borders. This was a pleasant experience overall and did not take too long, perhaps 2 hours or so. 16x20

Beautiful picture, especially that naked tree. Or maybe that's a dead tree. I don't know. Anyway, it looks like real bark. Love those mountains, too.

And don't let so long go by between paintings...I like your work. 🙂

Without looking at the name, I recognized the trees and knew it was from Lightsnow! 😄
Good depth created with that tree and the little island. The tree demands your attention but doesn't forget to make the mountains shine as well in this painting!

A two hours well spent Lightsnow, and a great idea to create a different border!

Beautiful.

I like everything about this! The offset position of the border and the excellent work on the tree and ground foliage really set it off.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. The interesting thing about this painting is that, besides using the 1" brush for the sky, the rest of the painting was created using non-Ross brand brushes. I bought this small brush a little while ago at the paint supply store and I have been using it quite readily for all kinds of bushes and foliage. Here, I even used it for the clouds. It's a fantastic little brush. I was considering creating a brief article with some information on how I'm using these different brushes.
