Evening seascape

lightsnow 12 Sep 2020

Painting # 64. Another practice seascape here. Since my goal was to make a few seascapes to practice, I tried varying them up in terms of time of day. This is my attempt at an evening/night scene. 12x16

I think this looks like stormy sea at night. The light of the moon on the water is so gentle to highlight waves of the unquiet sea. I like the sand feel of the water sliding back to the sea.

I love the colors of the water. What brand/color paint did you use for the blues and greens in the near waves? Also very nice effect with the pale moon reflecting ever so slightly in the back center ocean. You managed the effect with only the most subtle color change. I love it.

@ ironchef8000 - Thank you for the nice comments. As for the colors I used for the waves, I think it must have been some pthathlo blue (possible WN or Van Gogh brand) and a bit of Ross brand phthalo green. I wanted a very slight greenish hue up front.
