Lights in Wood

lightsnow 28 Mar 2021

Painting # 87. I've been concocting this one in my mind for quite some time. I really had to sit down and sketch it out in terms of how I was going to get the clean borders I envisioned. Overall, this turned out pretty closely to what I had in mind. It was a lot of fun creating the wood grain effect. It's an interesting chemical reaction to watch unfold before your eyes. This was a pretty fun painting overall and took around 2.5 hours start to finish. 18x24

A true gem creation Lightsnow!
The scenery itself is already appealing (reflections, mountains and bushes are WAW!) but that very realistic border just booms this to the top!

I love this! What a fabulous idea. Bob would be impressed and proud. I love your mountains and the reflections of the lights in the water.

Thank you for the nice comments. I was taking a few pictures along the way, hoping that I could share these prep shots with people here to help anyone trying to create something similar. However, I think I forgot to continue taking photos once I really got into it. I'll dig up what I have and consider creating a short article on how to do about making a border like this.
