The Falls At Shades

moai 30 Jul 2020

I painted this on a 16 x 20 canvas. The inspiration comes from three different waterfalls that are in separate areas in Shades State Park in Indiana. The park was once called shades of death state park.
The top waterfall is from a favine which you hike in called the devil's punch bowl which has many stairs and can be quite wet.
The middle fall is from the Maiden's Hair Falls on a very rugged hike in a wet and muddy ravine.
The bottom falls which I did not see very well {I was at the top of the falls} is from the Silver Cascade Falls, a convex waterfall. The silver cascade falls can be seen from an easy hike out to lover's leap or a hike that is wet and muddy down a ravine from the devil's punch bowl.
I painted a compilation of all three falls.
