Very nice painting!
If you can print out the photo and put in the plastic file, it will help with color selection/matching as through that transparent plastic you will be able apply paitn on the photo without damaging it. It will help to learn a lot about Color mixing and get a steady hand with it. Just a note - photos usually do not represent colors human eye would see, so be careful.
You are definitely on the right path with your colors!
