Pencil rendering of Degas' "Woman drying her feet"

parksd02 11 Nov 2020

I have always loved this work by Degas. I decided to draw it using a few different grades of pencils on professional grade drawing paper. Bob brought the artist Ben Stahl on an episode in season 7, and Mr. Stahl gave the admonition to draw. He mentioned that drawing can be more fun than painting. His words were an inspiration to me to get back to what I always did as a kid before I ever picked up a paint brush.

This is fantastic drawing! Do you plan to copy Degas?

Finally, it was getting pretty lonesome in the 'NSFW' section!!

I rather prefer drawing over painting as well!
You're drawing at a high level when creating this magnificent figure! I truly love it, the contour, the shading, depth created ;... WAW!

Wow! Quite impressive!

Sunnylady--Thank you. Well, in a perfect world, I would love a career as a copyist of some of the old masters, but that's probably not going to happen. I did, actually, draw one of his ballerinas today. My six year old daughter is taking ballet, and I thought it would be a good gift idea.

Voy Kay--thank you! I appreciate that.

@parksd02: that is super cool that degas inspired you to go further and draw ballerinas! I think the drawing will inspire your daughter even more!
