Tried to capture that gross feeling on a cold, cloudy, winter day with half-melted snow that's frozen back over. Used a sap green/red ochre tone to start. Dark foreground was created with black/yellow and some red orchre. Seemed more appropriate than my usual sap green/red ochre combo.

Just looking at it, one feels deserted and cold!

I’d say that you nailed it Pat. With your description I feel like I just climbed out of the deer stand and trudged through 1500 yds of cold damp weather and didn’t see anything to shoot.
