I never stood out there with her — this came more from a dream than a memory. But I can imagine it plain as day: a cow on the prairie in the dead of winter, standing quiet under a cold moon. Snow’s got that green-blue glow, sagebrush catching just a whisper of light, and the only company is her own long shadow.
It’s the way I figure a night out there would feel — lonely, cold, but kind of peaceful too.
