A tribute to one of my favorite characters of all time.
I’ve been a big fan of Keith C. Blackmore’s work for years — especially his Mountain Man series. Few characters have ever stuck with me like Gus has: rough around the edges, darkly funny, endlessly human.
This painting is my way of honoring him.
Here’s Gus, sitting on his mountain house deck, bottle in hand, watching the city burn below. Calm. Detached. Watching it all unfold — just as I imagine he would.
