“Cold World” — oil on canvas, 2025
This one is personal.
My own son is terribly addicted. He just got out of prison, and now he has warrants again for falling back into the drug life.
I painted this because it feels like what I see in him — and in so many others. Fentanyl and addiction are stealing a whole generation, leaving kids and families behind to pick up the pieces in a cold, empty world.
The parent on the couch… that could be anyone’s son, daughter, brother, sister. The baby left standing there still needs someone — but there’s no one left.
I don’t have answers. But I know we can’t just keep looking away.
