I made a critical mistake in this one. The grasses are way too warm in contrast with the sky. The moon light should be cool. So, I’ll let it dry and come back with some zinc white and cool green glaze to cool it down. I can also put in the magnifying glasses and try to add detail to the gophers. Any other suggestions?
Good work my friend and a great idea.. which in the end is a bit irritated that it seems as if the mountain is illuminated separately. But that's just a side note.. Top 👍🏼🇩🇪🔪
Thanks Rebecca! I’ll keep pushing.
Great point Dirk. I’ll reduce that halo around the mountain. Maybe use some Payne’s gray or some pht blue with a touch of AZ crimson to push it back and make it more atmospheric?
If I may say this: I find it difficult to partially improve. It may work in some cases, but for me it works less. Suggestion to completely re-do the sky except for the moon and then re-add the light of the moon again. Would be my approach now.👍🏼🇩🇪🔪
I think your thoughts are good ideas, but I love your painting. The light cast on the gophers and their shadows behind them are so cool!
@Dirk - don’t worry buddy. I got this!
Thanks Carolyn!
Look at them sitting there! ❤️
Moonbathing.
I like the ideas for changing the colours a bit. It'll make it look more like a night scene for sure.
I do however also like the warmth of the yellowish green grass and the cooler minty coloured highlights on some of the taller patches of grass. So I'd say, when glazing over it, try to keep a bit of that warm/cool contrast. I'm guessing it'll still be there after glazing, just less pronounced.
So creative and an excellent painting!

I think your ideas for after touchups are solid. Good job
