Tailed

rtparsjr 14 Jun 2025

In small-town department stores, it was easy to feel invisible—until you weren’t.

This piece captures a moment of quiet injustice: a Native youth targeted by suspicion while the real thief goes unnoticed.

Inspired by real memories, ‘Tailed’ speaks to the way systemic bias follows people—through aisles, through towns, and through generations.

Until things change I guess someone in that situation would have to just try to rise above it, or imagine them being chased by a pack of rez dogs. Wouldn't it be satisfying to turn around and tell them the woman just shoved something up her jumper! They would have to say "thank you". How humiliating that would be for them. Firstly coz of the way they were alerted to the crime and secondly coz they were in the wrong. I personally would feel quite smug about that. As always your picture paints a thought provoking thousand words. Well done.

Helen, Thank You!

Hi my big friend, you know I really like your series. It is sad to have had this experience and all the more important that it is always thematized. Blending is often across generations. Greetings from Germany Bro 👍🏼🇩🇪🔪

Another sad scene from your youth! So sorry you were treated this way...no excuses.

The composition tells the story.
