These street corner "chippys" were a common site back in the day, tried to capture some of the Lowry spirit in this one

I love the perspective change inside the shop, great effect!

Love the nostalgia tel. Takes me right back to Eddie's fish and chip shop in the next street to ours when I was a kid in the 60s. Hull is still the only place in the UK where you can buy a fluffy spud patty, they never caught on anywhere else. All other versions are nothing like them. Your painting also reminds me that we were actually allowed out on our own in the dark. Different times. And the built to last silver cross pram that out lived one generation after another. And you never saw a dog on a lead. Altogether a great painting!

Thanks guys, "Fluffy spud patties " sounds delicious Helen....ever tried a deep fried Mars bar?...Nah, me neither. True what you say about Silver cross, they were certainly built to last.

Lol, there's something cringeworthy about a deep fried Mars bar. I've tried battered deep fried mushrooms, I like those but I never saw them when I was a kid. When my mother had a few extra pennies she would add cod roe on to the chippy order just for herself. I bet she thought that was posh! To be honest these days I have none of it as I no longer eat trans fats, I'm trying to live a bit longer🤣

Thanks again Helen, i recently cut out all "Ultra processed" foods , bit early to say what benefits i am feeling but i certainly feel happier knowing i am not gulping down all those orrible chemicals.

Good call tel, its the best thing to do if you're a statins dodger. And if you happen to be prediabetic you can reverse that in 3 months on a low carb diet, which is likely something close to what you're already doing. Spending less money on addictive and damaging so-called "food" means more to spend on painting materials. Win-win.
