Original Creation

Tibbitt's Point, Cape Vincent NY

wybnormal 15 Feb 2021

I used to live here in the lighthouse keeper's house just off canvas to the right. This was my dad's last duty station in 1963-67 in the USCG. I used a reference image I found but took some liberties with the sea and details ( I removed the safety fence there now). This is my first seascape of any note.

Absolutely beautiful! I think the edit was wise - although practical the safety fence is not esthetically pleasing. I’ve always been fascinated by lighthouses and their keepers. I think this is your best work yet!

Your sea is awesome! So alive!

This is amazing painting you made! Lighthouse and wild sea!

AWESOME, lighting is so very good, Did you paint it with crashing waves as that is how you remember it most?

I remember being at the from of the building with my dad and the water going over our heads just about straight up from hitting the rocks. I used to go the "shore" such as it was and skip rocks and float a toy boat I had there. During the winter, the lake is impressively rough. So yes.. the crashing waves are a strong memory for me.

Love this! What memories you must have!

Beautiful photo and lovely recreation!

that is awesome. I bet it was fun and also very lonely

Wow! You’ve outdone yourself with this one Wyb! Great job!

This looks so fresh, the highlights on the water are lovely. I can just imagine looking out of the window of that little house and taking in the sights and sounds of the ocean. I could do that for hours.
