Woodgrain View

Mgiese84 28 Dec 2021

Woodgrain View version #2. I ended up giving the first to my mother for Christmas. She has a number of my paintings but no Bob Ross until this one. I thought it was such a beautiful scene I needed one for myself 😀

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

WAW! in all honesty, I like this version better then Bob's!
The pink on the birch bark really stands out!

Beautiful as always, Matt, you made this one for yourself, what are you doing with all those paintings, which you create; so many in such a short time? Was the liquid white covering the dark underpainting with one layer? You need patience for this one, how long did the drying of the background layer take? But it was worth all effort, you have again a marvelous creation!

Wow, this looks great. Well done.

Thanks Voy! I remember Bob using a touch of pink on the highlight side of the trees and blue on the shadow side (especially in the earlier episodes). I think that gives them a little more pop.

Thanks Joha! Most of the paintings I have in my storage closet currently. The ones I really like I periodically change out the ones I have hanging in my house, lol.

So this painting you do the background wood effect first. Once that's completely dry (5 days for mine to dry) then I put masking tape around the section I was going to paint the scene. I covered that area then with the liquid white and away I went.
