Desert Glow

Ninoum
25 Jan 2023

I wanted to paint a scene I have never done before…a desert.

I didn’t want a full oval so I modified it. In my prep, before putting the Cont-act paper, I spayed some acrylic colors with a fan brush & a knife, on that part. I tried to match at best the colors that would be next to it on the painting. Just wanted a cool section, not just plain ol’ white.

I really had fun painting this one. Pastel & happy colors + earthy ones… the best of both worlds!

Super job making this one pretty! I am personally not a big desert scene fan, but you really punched this up! I like your border a lot!

Thank you so much Pam. It means a lot coming from you! ☺️

Very nice Nancy. I would like to do this one again myself. My first version I wasn't able to make ovals yet so I definitely want to try it with the oval

Thx Matt! 😊 It makes the cactus pop more with the oval. Can’t wait to see your redo!

Wow effect , super painting Nancy . Speechless . I everything in this Scene is so Perfect , 😎

Thank you so much my friend! ☺️

Really nice painting! Love the cutout and your rocks and shading are really good!

Thank you so much Sandy! 😊

This is up to your best Nancy. All the different elements are done perfectly. I also like the idea with the half oval here. Very good!

Nice that sparkled half oval and the birds belong to this painting!

Thank you so much Tom! I didn’t expect much from it at the beginning since a desert scene is something I have never done before. It turned out much better than I thought. BTW, I am planning on doing “Winter Woods” from Bill Alexander this Saturday. I am really excited about it!

Thank you so much Jos! I wanted to bring a new element with my half oval sparkled. The birds are in the book version. I thought they looked so perfect. I had to add them in.

great idea with the half oval!

Thx Jessie! It give more painting surface. 😊

Really well done Nancy :) the colors are beautiful and I like the rock formations. I’m not a huge fan of desert scenes myself but this one is really good :)

Thank you so much Daniel! I am not really either, but I am all about learning anything. This intrigued me a lot. I had to paint it. 😀
