Storm's A Comin

Cronenberg89 07 Feb 2023

I painted this yesterday and am not happy with the wave. I am going to let it dry and see what I can do to fix it up. 16x20

I think that foam is great. You did preserve shadow underneath and it is lovely highlighted where it hits the stone. Only one small thing that I see is an angle which is geometrical but not realistic just before it rolls. It shall be rather straight line there with that beautiful olive color that disintegrates into dark blue.

Light on the wave is great but in the rest of the painting it is not really shown, maybe you can think about linking highlights on other objects as well to tell your story better.

Thank you for your help and comments Sunnylady!

I think it is great. I have tried 2 with waves and they arenโ€™t very good. Waves are hard.

Very pretty Brian!

What I would suggest with ur for am at the bottom of the wave is maybe use ur round brush and just tap the very tips in white and put some foam in that way. I do that a lot on my seascapes.

I did what I could with it while it was still somewhat wet but thinking I still need to work on the wave. I added two seagulls in the sky and one standing on the rocks on the left. Thanks so much coldethel and Sandy! Thanks Matt and I will add some with the round brush. And thank you again Sunnylady! I probably would have just moved on to the next one without your support.

B, this is a super nice painting. Love your seagulls!! The one on the rock is killer!

I get what bothers you on the 1st and 2nd one. You corrected the sharp angle of your wave. I think the new one need more foam on its edge. I just checked at Bob's one and it has a pretty thick roll of foam on it. As a little bonus, you could add "foam veins" inside the eye of the wave.

Thank you so much N!

Anytime B! ๐Ÿ˜€

I added some highlights to the foam this morning before heading to work. Thanks TIB family!
