Storm's A Comin

joha59 11 Nov 2020

On 24x30 cm with Winton oil paint. Main problem with this nice painting was thin lines became thick during drying proces, maybe wrong therpentine or too much linseed oil used?

That's probably the reaction of liquid clear (made from linseed oil) and paint thinner (therpentine). Those two react heavily when joint together so that should be very very limited.

The effect still looks okay Joha, no worries! Your sea and those highlighted gulls are outstanding!

Thanks Voy, I use a self mix of linseedoil and therpentine (70-30%)as liquid clear. The highlights in the water should be made with very thin paint, so I used a little bit of therpentine for that with mentioned result.

Maybe then you could thin the white with a little linseed oil?
