Emerald Waters

joha59 16 Feb 2023

This painting seemed so simple and is a great exercise for people who are still not very confident with bushes and foliage, like me. This was my second attempt (do NOT look at the first attempt on stretched canvas 40x30 cm in the second photo, I scraped it off later) which I did in one hour. Some experiences are: using not too much paint for the background, tried a little spot in the second attempt (guess where?) to use some liquid white but I would not do that again and I did in this one (on canvasboard 30x24 cm) performing mainly the upward stroke and not all complicated movements Bob did with the fan brush.

23 febr. 2023 Added a picture of the third and probably the last attempt on stretched canvas 40 x 30 cm.

Hey Jos, it looks nice . Bushes and leaves are always a challenge.,for me too 👍🏼

You improved that painting a lot! Great job!!! I can see where you used the liquid white. Tho, if you didn't mention it, I would have thought it was part of the foliage of your island trees.

Many thanks Dirk (happy there are also mountains to paint) and Nancy (indeed the right tree on the island)!
