Blue Moon

Tom0779 23 Feb 2023

Finally I found some time for a new Bob Ross recreation yesterday late afternoon.
I am currently in mood of doing moonlight scenes.
My opinion about this episode:
Bob says a very easy one. To be honest I think this is not easy to make it look good. You need to be very careful with the white to not overdo and make the painting too bright. Aslo creating the leaves on the palm trees can be very tricky - at least it was tricky for me.
Overall for sure a nice painting which needs a light place to hang up so you can really see whats going on there.
I am quite happy with the result, though I am not so much a fan of seascapes.
Since some time I don’t use liquid clear on black canvases any more. I like it better without the clear. It is dry and that fits my painting style.

Guten Morgen Tom . You are a machine. Always top quality. A lot of respect for your work. The colors are magnificent, fantastically made

Many thanks Dirk ;). Actually I think I do not paint more than 2 pictures per week. I looks there are more because I share a lot I did last year :)

I did the most of my paintings during or between work . No liquid clear on Black c. ? I use as little as possible but completely without it?

I only do this if I have a totally black canvas, i.e. painted with black acrylics before. I find paint slides enough without clear. This is just a personal taste maybe.
BTW: Bodb introduced this clear later in the series so he also does apply the paint just straight from the tube. Also Bill does not always use his clear varnish, how he calls it :)

Do you Know the BR Video of Indian Summer ?He only speaks of liquid white and not of liquid clear but immediately of the color mixture he has applied. The book says the same. That irritated me. Had already written about it with nancy

I know this episode but did not paint it with oils, only with acrylics (you can find it somewhere on y insta page), thus I never thought about that. Maybe Bob did not "invent" this at that time.
BTW: linseed oil causes the color to get a yellowish hue after some time.

Okay Tom danke für die tips 👍🏼thanks Tom helps much

You are always welcome Dirk :)

Beautiful!

Many thanks Sandy!

Lovely job Tom

Thanks Matt :)

I don't think any of them are as easy as Bob makes it look. Maybe after I've done a 100 of them, but not right now.

Great work! You really captured the perspective of the waves. I love it.

Thank you ambtulsacd!
