Cabin at Sunset

Tom0779 09 Mar 2023

First painting I did since two weeks. I am currently too busy with work to create more pictures.
A very nice colorful episode which has quite a bit going on. The cabin should be the star here. I added some shadows to make it more interesting.
Oils on canvas panel 20 x 28 in. (50 x 70 cm)

Guten Morgen Tom, Exzellent. Super sky , super Cabin , Allover super 👍🏼😎

Many thanks Dirk!

Oh my!!!! I love it to the max Tom! 🥰😍 The shadow of your cabin make the painting so real and next level! That’s what is missing in Bob’s! Super well done! How do you know how the shadow would look like? I have a hard time with that part!

Great job Tom. Each and every one of your paintings is such an inspiration :)

Really nice painting...love the shadows!

Nice one! I agree that your cabin is on another level with that awesome shadow. Really adds a lot of depth and dimension.

Very nice sky and a perfect villa-cabin.

Loving the added shadows!
Really makes it look like a sunny sunset.

Thank you Nancy. I did a lot of urban/rural sketches in watercolor. There you use a lot of shadow light contrast (in fact this is so easy with watercolors) and there I learned a lot about them. Else I follow my personal opinion what is common sense for them ;)

Thanks a lot Tony, I am glad you like my paintings :)

Thanks Sandy for your support as always.

Thanks Pam, Bob does rarely carry about shadows. This is surprising as they aren't that much effort. I am glad you like it.

Thanks a lot Jos!

Many thanks Titia!

Nice work, I love the roof, what color(s) did you use ?

Thank you MHK. Bob uses a mixture of bright red and dark sienna. As I don’t have them I used Lukas Red and Burnt Umber.
You can use any opaque red mixed with brown like Burnt umber or burnt sienna.

I don’t know how I missed this one until now but it super as usual! I love the background trees that you left without highlights and the cabin is fantastic!

Thank you Brian!
