Mountain River

vietti 19 Jan 2024

This one was a tough one for me. I started off disliking my mountain and then promptly went ahead and did ANOTHER mountain that I disliked even more. I then just decided that this would be a practice piece. When I got done with it though, I actually kind of like it now. My foreground stone is way off in perspective, and my waterfall would make a great Rorschach test (I see an aardvark, BTW. Or maybe a pony bowing to Squidward of SpongeBob fame), but I'm pleased with most of the composition. Side note: I did a pink bush instead of the blue bush. Blue bushes freak me out, but that's a story for another day.

Very good waterfall and great evergreens too!

Looks really nice.

I can relate to the way you feel. I felt this way so many times. But as Bob says, "I hope you are plagued with dissatisfaction". You will always strive to be better at each painting this way and you will succeed.

This is a very nice painting. So many amazing elements... bushes, evergreens and waterfall are sublime. As long as you learned something, this was well worth painting it.
