Hi, This was my first one. My friend talked me into trying oils and I always loved watching Bob Ross when I was a kid. It was absolutely terrifying! I've never had an art class and have no knowledge and I've only worked with acrylics, graphite & charcoal. I've drawn for years and only started painting a few years ago.
The mountains were the most enjoyable and seems to be the "easiest". I learned that I like working with the pallete knife. The bushes were the hardest, had a really hard time getting them to take shape. Couldn't get any desent cloud action going and that big light patch in the middle of the sky happened when the canvas fell off the easel and there was a big dark smear there and as I tried to get rid of it, this brightness appeared so I went with. Another happen accident happened with the color. I used the colors Bob said to use to get to gray, but I must not have done the proportions the way Bob did because what looked like gray on the pallete, turned out to be more of a green on the canvas, so I went with it too.
Thanks Mwiggle, wouldn't have gotten there if not for you!!!!
This is wonderful treatment and I would not expect so much control from a new oil painter. You must have a good eye and be great at drawing!
Thank you so much for you wonderful words! I have a quite a few drawings I'm pleased with, I've got many more that simply suck. I remember someone saying you'll never be great at something until you're will to suck at it first. I'll post some of my dawings when time allows. Thanks again.
