Evening Seascape

RebeccaJ 29 Jan 2026

16x20 Oil on Canvas. This is the 2nd time that I have painted this one. I changed the orientation to horizontal, changed the rocks a bit, left out the pine trees, and added a moon. I also made it somewhat lighter in the sky - I have noticed that these black canvases darken a bit so I might have over compensated, but I think its okay.

Very nice and the green/yellow water and the rocks looks great!

I like the way you have swamped the beach rocks in water. It will likely darken down further. It helps to place some white or grey gesso areas on the black canvas before you go in with your oils, that way, what you see is what you get so it takes the guess work out of it a bit. I like the colour of your rocks, very earthy.

Great job overall--very effective sky, sea, and shore!

Such a powerful beach scene just lovely!

This is gorgeous! I like your use of colors and how you captured movement in the sea and sky.
