9x12 Oil on Board. I painted from the New Joy of Painting book, I wasn't too careful to read the setup, so I put black gesso on the entire canvas. This created issue for bright yellow in sky - I think the black is still showing thru. But, beyond I also had a phthalo green overload, as the phthalos are really powerful and intense. So with these 2 setbacks, I think it turned out okay.
thank you for your comments Helen. I might let it dry and add a layer with yellow. I did add some titanium white when I painted it the first time, so I could mix the yellow and white again. I don't think the sky will get darker. I'm doing these to learn, so hopefully I get a tiny bit better!
You've got the right attitude Rebecca, and you paint regularly which I think is key. The worst thing you can do is let it lapse because you do forget. After a long break I've just messed up my last two waves big time with rookie errors, so I know I'll be spending part of today fixing yesterdays effort. I used to find seascapes easy so Im annoyed with myself. But it was only a short time ago I didn't know how to fix things, it's all learning isn't it.
Very nice Rebecca, the speedpainter among us!

Looks really peaceful Rebecca. Love that tree on the left. Yellow over black does give you problems coz it's transparent. When I did the same thing I let it dry down a bit and added more layers. I guess adding an opaque colour like titanium white to it would help but I didnt try it.
